How To Update Bios Dell Xps M1210 Bluetooth
I press the power button, then the Bluetooth, Power and Hard Drive lamps turn on. After a few seconds, the hard drive lamp turns off and I can hear the hard drives stopping. The monitor doesn't turn on at all. It only responds to the Power button, and turns off quite quickly. When I attach external hard drives, they go into sleep mode when my XPS M2010 is in this state.

The unit is 2 yrs old and will start up for only a few moments and then it goes into power save mode. Seemed like it wasn't charging so we ordered a new battery from Dell. Still same problem. Tech guy said the hard drive is fine but nobody seems to be able to figure out why it comes on sporadically.
Stays on for 20 minutes or less and then goes to power save. Anyone heard of similar problems with the xps m2010? This guy (Post#4) is right! To some extent the guys who want you to play with the ABCD screws are on the right track.
Between their findings I fixed my M2010. The heatsink compund on the video card is not properly applied and is causing the card to fail initial bios tests. Here's what I did you may want to try this before you buy a new video card.
